I chose Standard VeraCrypt volume (rather than Hidden).Per the tutorial, I began encryption of my external drive by choosing "Encrypt a non-system partition/drive".This also prompted me to restart my computer, so I did At some point VeraCrypt notified me to turn off "fast boot" as this is known to cause issues with encryption, so I did.I installed VeraCrypt 1.24-Update7 (64-bit) on my boot drive, a 256 GB SSD with Windows 10.I deleted the existing Samsung software by opening the SSD and deleting it in Windows Explorer (more on this later).I recently purchased a Samsung portable T5 1TB SSD and after reading about the vulnerabilities of proprietary encryption software decided to use Veracrypt instead of the existing Samsung software.
